One of the most popular pantomimes, I was very happy to be invited to the Drill Hall Chepstow, where the Chaos Music and Drama Society were presenting the show. It was a surprise to find that the production was not to be performed in the traditional way, but to a script written and musically directed by a member of the Society, Natasha Kus; a lady of extensive talent, who also played the part of the Wicked Fairy “Maleficent”. A superb performance in every way.
A lovely performance by Isla Richards as Aurora, both visually and vocally, well supported by Callum Woodward as Prince Philip and Amanda Osmond as Sebastian.
The traditional tale of the panto was clearly told by the lovely Good Fairy Trio. Hazel Guppy as Flora, Carla Bryce as Fauna, and Marion Bowen as Merryweather.
However, this was where tradition was clearly left behind. Queen Regina, played by Jon Stone, was a Tour de force and certainly made the stage his/ her own with an unforgettable performance.
The drama, humour and comedy timing throughout the performance was a triumph. The whole cast gave a very professional performance of this very well written script that added the description of DRAMA to the traditional pantomime.
Well done to the production team: Lighting, sound, backstage and wardrobe for a very smooth performance that had an excellent visual impact.
My congratulations to you all on a superb production. I cannot wait for your next performance.
