This was my first Pantomime of the season and what a start, a bright, lively and colourful production.
The story is familiar and we all knew what to expect
We opened with the Minstrel (Mark Bonner) who talked and sang us through the story, (albeit with an annoying feather in his cap).
We booed and hissed at the evil Carabosse ( Heidi Hodkinson) a brilliantly underplayed performance with just the right amount of menace.
We laughed at Chris Goodings as Bumble and Nanny Fanny (Andrew Rigden) who, even when he missed a line covered it very well, The children were with them all the way.
We had a “Slap my thigh” principle boy in Arwen Skinner who gave a lovely performance her diction was good and she kept the stance all the way through, as well as a lovely singing voice, as did Lucy Bradbury as Princess Beauty. The audience loved her.
The chorus, as always gave their all and kept the pace and enthusiasm all the way through. Good movement and chorus numbers.
This Society has a lot of talent and it is hoped they can overcome their present problems and keep going for many years to come.
A pleasure as always
