GDS “You smashed it again”. If you haven’t been to see Sleeping beauty at the Brooke theatre this week, get there, you only have 2 performances left…. Its a ‘Beauty’ of a Sleeping Beauty.

I could leave it there, but I wont. Adam Waters makes his Doctorial début and succeeded!!! He brought a great cast together and directed them with professional flair….Queen Dotty (Marianna Allen) had the look of Jo Brand. I had to look at my programme to see whether Dotty was male of female. Marianna was superb, not an easy task, a women playing a man playing a women. Fantastic, I loved you Marianna. Billy (Laura Stoneman) keep the laughter and ad libs going...great. How can I fault these three ladies Carly Caller, as Caraboose, Tonia Plowman as Fairy Peaceful and Rachael Heard as Princess Aurora. They brought theatrical class to this Sleeping Beauty, they are all divas in their own right, wow!! And boy can they sing and act, Perfect casting Adam.

These ladies were all backed up by the graceful Kitty (Shona Draper), Megan Chapman as Spindleshanks - great comedy Megan. Fairy Peaceful had three backup fairys in Anne-Marie Dodd, Rhea Baker and Charlotte Galea. They performed like a camp back-up Duo, excellent. With only two male leads Nick Smith as King Nobby (Nuts) a strong performance, and Aidan Harwood playing Prince Orlando, the love interest, who looked every inch the handsome prince with a nice singing voice. This was all backed up with slick chorography by Emma Constantine. Owen McColgan Musical Director with his band (Rob Ferguson and Alex Coveney)..Owen always the professional in choosing the right music. I like the clip tracks he chose, they gave a big all rounded sound ….well done Owen.  Props, costumes, set, all up to GDS’s standard. Lighting adequate. Gosh I don’t have a gripe…..Thank you GDS for a superb evenings entertainment,
