You can be sure that a visit to see a WWRTC production will be a most rewarding experience and this production of Sister Act at Wakefield Theatre Royal was no exception. The choice of Sister Act was a first for WWRTC and also for me having not seen it before either professionally or amateur. The show is very demanding and calls for a lot of fine singing, acting and good choreography which this society was able to supply in spades. Exceptional casting in all roles made this a most exceptional production. Christine Shoesmith (Mother Superior) again proved what a fine actress she is, both singing and acting the role with great conviction. Isabel Canning (Sister Mary Robert) impressed us with some fine acting and super vocal contributions. Anna Potton (Sister Mary Patrick) helped to bring out the comedy that makes this show most enjoyable. I have to say that again Rachel Marshall (Deloris Van Cartier) stole the show for me, she dominated the stage with her outstanding acting and very powerful voice. The show was very well produced and the choreography most suitable for this type of production. Full marks to the MD, the chorus singing was a great feature of the production and all the back up crews also excelled.
