The stage was open as we entered the auditorium and the orchestra on view within the simple Art Deco inspired set lit subtly and with thought to set the scene. Technically Singing in the Rain is a challenge but Muses had met the challenge full on, we had rain and movies and smoke, all the bells and whistles, the movies were certainly a highlight congratulations to Oli Johnson and cast in their creation. Costumes were appropriate and Lina and the showgirls looked particularly glamorous, wigs finished the look with style. On to the cast, high levels of energy buzzed on the stage as the smiles were glittering and feet tapped the floor, sadly the tapping was near on inaudible due to the flooring used, but on the plus side this can cover a number of tap dancing sins! But there was lots of style and finesse from some talented hoofers. Don and Kathy were well matched and created the romance of the piece. Cosmo truly sparkled with ‘Make ‘Em Laugh’ being a highlight. ‘Moses supposes’ was also a well-staged number that sticks in the memory. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this productions Lena Lamont, she brought a different approach to the character and ‘What’s wrong with me?’  was hysterical and perfectly tuneless (I’m fully aware that this was all an act),it was just right. Musically the production was strong and the ensemble worked well in their supporting roles, a fun pleasurable evening. Thank you to you all.
