Shrek - The Musical

This is one of my favourite shows and I always wonder if I will be disappointed when I see it. Well, I need not have worried. This show was all I looked for and more. It had a very good set; the costumes were spot on and they had a Dragon.

Gareth McMurdo was perfect as Shrek and had obviously worked hard on the accent. Rob Jones as Donkey had all the posturing and occasional pathos that I expected. A great performance. Jodie Breakwell as the feisty Princess Fiona, another great performance, she completed and complimented the main line up and they all performed very well together. 

Other characters I must mention are Charlie Mark as Pinocchio and Ethan Andrews Harriman as Lord Farquaad. They had obviously studied the characters well and the hard work paid off. Very well done. Also well done to Chrystal Connolly as Young Fiona, Layla Beth Jones as Teen Fiona and Rhydian Freeman as Little Shrek. 

This show relies a lot on its minor characters, fairy tale creatures, guards, dancers etc, and the chorus moved seamlessly from one character to the next and back again. 

The Choreography was very good and the singing, both principle and chorus, was amazing.

You also had a very good and efficient stage crew. Well done.

 I enjoyed this production from start to finish and you should all be very proud of yourselves on delivering a superb production.
