The new youth group Cleckheaton and Spenborough Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society Youth Theatre, formed only a very short time ago, working under the umbrella of the senior society, performed their first production "Showcase".  This actually allowed the children to show off their various talents both collectively and individually, with lots of solo work from children of all ages.  I was really impressed with the projection, confidence and enthusiasm that just oozed from them all.  Their first number "Circle of Life" with all thirty eight children singing their hearts out set the tone for the rest of the evening.  In the first act a delightful excerpt from "Oliver", interspersed with dialogue proved the children were being tutored perfectly.  In the second act they performed a selection from "The Sound of Music" in the same way.  All the children were dressed beautifully, the girls in their party dresses and the boys in shirts, ties, waistcoats and jackets, all looking very smart with big smiles on their faces from start to finish.  I cannot pick out any one soloist, they all produced excellent performances.  As it says in the programme thirty eight performers, seventeen musicals, and twelve rehearsals, making one fabulous entertaining production.  I am really looking forward to your first fully staged musical in September.  Congratulations to all involved in any way.
