‘Shout’ is set in London between the early 1960s and 1970, and follows the lives of five women (The Red Girl), (Green Girl), (Blue Girl), (Yellow Girl) and (Orange girl) who all face tough situations, usually involving relationships.
A small theatre, a small stage and a small cast by no means make for a small production which moved along quickly and efficiently. The soloists and choral numbers were excellent.
A strong talented cast and chorus gave some excellent performances from Cat Bailie [Red girl], Jennifer Brock [Blue Girl], Fern O’Brien [Yellow Girl], Rhiannon Rose [Green Girl] and Hayley Toms [Orange Girl]. Comedy timing was good and the girls had the audience in the palms of their hands. The duet ‘You’re My World/All I See Is You’ was sung beautifully.
Costumes were appropriate for this production, however I would have liked to have seen a costume change for all lead 5 girls in the ‘Fashion Show’ and not just the orange girl.
Direction, Musical Direction was excellent. The set worked well for this production creating lots of different levels. One criticism i have is the lack of colour within the lighting plot, the swinging 60’s would have been vibrant and full of colour.
Congratulations Concept Players!
