Writer and director Malcolm Shuttleworth must feel justifiably proud of his achievement having witnessed this fine performance of Shepherd’s Weather-Glass. The cast of Richard Lester as William Fox, Mike Hosking as James Barnett, Debbie Page as Granny Fox, Alan Phizacklea as Robert Fox and Charlie Rixon as Martha Fox really brought this production to life and I’m sure delivered Malcolm’s vision way beyond his wildest dreams. A very appreciative audience on the Friday night I visited particularly liked the local references and history lesson which made it all the more interesting and enjoyable. It was a play that really made you think and ask yourselves questions about the way you lead your own life and this is testament to a good writer. The set was excellent and I congratulate Graham Browning, Bruce Chinery and Alan Phizacklea for this. Lighting and sound was perfect as were costumes, props and make-up and all this contributes to a first class production. I congratulate ALEC for another first class production of which Malcolm, the group and the village can be very proud indeed.
