She Stoops to Conquer

It was a pleasure to have once again visited Carlton Theatre Group for this first-class production. ‘She Stoops to Conquer’ is full of twists, mistaken identities and misunderstandings. Whilst bordering on the ludicrous in places it’s nevertheless delightfully preposterous and terrific entertainment.  It most definitely requires a strong cast and every effort must be made to ensure both pace and energy levels remain high throughout.  On that note, I felt that Carlton attacked the script with panache and the audience simply moved along with the characters as they blustered, flirted and confused each other with miscommunications and hidden identities. The cast was well-selected and demonstrated a tremendous amount of commitment to master the intricate prose. This was a slick production and having the cast breaking of the ‘fourth wall’ ensured perfect engagement with the audience who were laughing throughout.

Once again congratulations to all those involved with ‘She Stoops to Conquer’.  I am sure that the entire audience, like me, left feeling highly impressed with the quality of this production and Carlton Theatre Group in general.
