It is always a pleasure to join the audience at the Drill Hall Chepstow, where Class Act Theatre company were to once more entertain us, with their production of “Shakespeare in love”. Congratulations to Louise Best [Director] and Louise Marsh [Creative Director] for an entertaining and well staged production.
Dan Williamson as Shakespeare, gave a performance to be very proud of, showing excellent acting ability and flawless dialogue. This young man is an asset to any stage performance.
Rachel Banfield as Viola gave a superb performance especially in the delivery of the Shakespearean verse. The combination of this duo was perfect. Emotional, funny and with a talent for storytelling. Well done to you both.
The machinations of a play influenced by Shakespearean verse is not always easy to follow but this cast told the story and kept the audience interest throughout.
Hannah Creber as kit Marlowe Rachel Cooney as Burbage, Emily Thomas as Henslowe and Callum Woodward as Fennyman, gave excellent supportive performances with clear dialogue and good characterisation.
Some very good cameo performances were given by a very regal Queen Elizabeth1 played by Maureen Cape, the actor Ned Allen played by Michael Feakes the Nurse played by Kissie Moon and not forgetting [the dog] played by Megan Pugh. A very successful play congratulations to you all
