This was an ambitious celebration of 50 years of the most famous secret agent of all, Bond…James Bond. Guided by the elegant Ms Moneypenny we were guided through Bonds life, quirks, foibles and romantic attachments. Beginning with the first movie and moving through to Skyfall, the company set themselves the challenge of creating the specialist sound of the well-known numbers;on the whole finding the right voices required to portray the sound of the original stars who sang the theme tunes. Solo highlights were ‘If You Asked Me Too’ from Licence to Kill and ‘Skyfall’. Chorographically the company met the challenges head on and the dancers had good poise timing and style, ‘Live and Let Die’ the company number was particularly ambitious and worked beautifully on the small stage finishing the first act in style. It was good to see the younger members being given the chance to shine along with new members who show great promise for future roles within the company. Lighting and sound was extremely high quality and visually this production was a glittering cocktail totally in keeping with the image of the character it was created to celebrate….it was nicely shaken and stirred.
