Seussical The Musical has music by Stephen Flanerty, Lyrics by Lynn Anrens, Co-Conceived by Lynn Anrens, Stephen Flanerty and Eric Idle based on the works of Dr Seuss.

This was a lively colourful production. Martin Paterson has created a great sound with the singing and the orchestra just right. The Choreography is very good - Sophie Barnard and Kiri Golding have worked hard with the dancing and there are some lovely dancing and movement numbers. Director Sophie Barnard has a great cast of all-ages, you can tell everyone has worked incredibly hard to create such an imaginative show. Sophie has used some great ideas with the set which keeps the show moving along, there are lots of lovely touches.

Wonderfully costumed, the sound and lighting are very good, along with the set - it's a real team effort.

The story is based on Horton the Elephant, nicely acted and sung by Adam Rush. He finds a dust speck that is populated by a village of little people The Whos, and takes care of them. He then agrees to baby sit an egg of his friend Mayzie LaBird who is a bit of a party girl, nicely played by Amy Longland she goes off out for the night and dosn't come home, leaving him to look after the egg.

Jo-Jo is The Whos' Mayoral son, played confidently by Izzy Li, she has a nice voice and keeps in character. Jack Oliver is great as The Cat in the Hat, he has a strong singing voice and moves around the stage with ease. The whole show is kept together by The Cat, with his stories.

Mr and Mrs Mayor (Jo-Jo's parents) are played by Richard and Amanda Peaty, as the out of touch parents I really liked the wonderful ‘Solla Soolew’ sequence.

The Whos' military is in the capable hands of Mike Pavitt as General Shmitz. His soldiers are a well-disciplined set of youngsters which was nice to see.

Horton finds help from his friend Gertrude McFuzz, played with great energy and heart by Abigail Jeffery. She has a soft spot for Horton, and i really liked their scenes together.

Other characters that also add to the story, are a set of fun monkeys the Wickersham Brothers played by Harry Taylor, Samuel Davis and Georgia Brenchley. Moga Moodley has a great voice as Sour Kangaroo and Imogen Peaty plays her baby Kangaroo.

Well done to everyone for a fun colourful production.
