The Screaming Twenties was an ambitious, entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable original production from CAST Theatre Company. A unique whodunnit concept, originally devised as a game, was cleverly adapted into a stage script and brought to life with great enthusiasm by a large ensemble cast and a committed creative team.

The immersive nature of the production – with in-character audience interactions, cabaret table seating, and supper served at the interval – helped create a warm and engaging atmosphere. While the heat in the hall posed a challenge, the cast coped admirably under difficult conditions.

Although the piece suffered slightly from some uneven pacing and a lack of initial clarity around character backstories, it made up for this with witty dialogue, strong performances, and considered staging. With a few refinements – particularly in ensuring a clearer tone of the 1920s and tightening some performances – this production could evolve into a really polished and memorable piece of theatre.
