My thanks to LRSupernovas for their very welcome invitation, to see their latest production at The Met Theatre; “School of Rock” the musical. Having seen and very much enjoyed the movie version of this show, I was very much looking forward to seeing how this young cast would bring this story to the stage. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.
From the moment Dewey, played by Lloyd Screen hit the stage the audience knew that they were in for an exhilarating roller coaster ride. With superb characterisation and an energy that filled the theatre Lloyd made the stage his own. His passion for the role was obvious and his rapport with supporting cast pulled the whole performance together. My congratulations and respect for a truly professional performance, that was a pleasure to watch. BRAVO
Jude Evans as Headteacher Rosalie Mullins was so well cast. Her attitude and poise were perfect. With excellent characterisation and stage presence, not to mention a superb vocal range, her performance was a key factor to the success of every scene she entered. She stunned the audience with her vocal gymnastics, and her applause was well deserved. Very well done.
Riley Edwards as the long-suffering reluctant flatmate and friend, Ned Schneebly was a comedy delight. Superb characterisation and comic timing, this performance provided the perfect partnership with Dewey. Riley had such controlled stage presence, changing his body language and demeaner to each situation. Would he keep his friend or his girlfriend Patti De Marco, played by Sophia Allsopp, that was the dilemma. Sophia was quite the harridan [to be taken as a compliment] Excellent characterisation of the no nonsense girlfriend. A difficult role, needing a strong personality and performed with confidence. Well done.
My congratulations to the members of the band.
Lottie May Plaster as Zack Mooneyham[lead guitar] Carys Clarke as Lauren Turner [keyboard] Nerea Bayliss-Fernandez as Freddie Hamilton [drums] Eleni Evans as Katie Travis [bass guitar] The band looked so natural and very convincing within their individual roles and the only way to achieve that effect was through hard work and total dedication to the characters they play. Carys really can play that keyboard, Nerea plays the drums with style and Eleni has devoted time to learn bass guitar. Lottie playing a male role really could rock with that lead guitar with choreographed moves that were truly convincing. My congratulations to you all, you really did rock that stage.
This young cast brought life and energy to this production that had the audience rocking too. The supporting cast, too many to mention individually must be congratulated on an excellent performance.
My congratulations to the Director Lauren Kate Barrett and Co-Director Georgia Kate Miller on another very entertaining production. I was exhausted just watching it all happen. So much energy from such a young cast.
My congratulations to you all. BRAVO
