Alan Ayckbourn's Role Play was his 60th play. 60!! Where does he get all his ideas from?
The seven cast members were so right for this production. The experienced cast worked so well together, bouncing off each other as they came to terms with the dilemmas of the play.
Aled Jones-Pritchard as Justin Lazenby established the tone of evening immediately giving a very solid performance which captured the correct ‘feel’ of the character.
Francesca Rees as Julie-Ann Jobson was well cast and did well to try and hold the story together. A well worked on and rounded performance.
Lucy Dunn as Paige Petite captured the right amount of attitude of this character. This was a gem of a part and underneath her coarse language we grew to like her and care about what happened to her.
Dan collier-Roberts as Micky Raile was nicely pitched, stayed in character throughout and was both watchable and likeable.
Graham Perkins as Derek Jobson extracted the most out of his role and kept the character throughout the play. Good Performance.
Helen Blundell as Dee jobson gave all to the role and created a sympathetic character which grew as the show progressed. A good all round performance.
Lesley Collier-Roberts as Arabella Lazenby brought her own unique interpretation of this character to life. This experienced actress gave a solid performance capturing the right levels of humour, depth and sass.
The set was well designed and functional with well positioned entrances and the set ‘dressing’ nicely depicting the era in which this drama was set, and the lighting was appropriate.
I look forward to the next production.
