We followed the signpost and found our way into Sherwood Forest, where we met Robin's Merry Men, Little John (Steve Eddison), Will Scarlett (Josh Milner) and Friar Tuck (Phil Wright), who worked so hard to get the audience in the "right mood" for an evening of good pantomime.
Congratulations to Steve on his innovative scenery (projection onto a back cloth) - it worked very well and gave much more stage space for the large number of members in the cast. Also congratulations to all the "Techies" and backstage team for their hard work despite easy scene changes!!!! Also the sound (particularly sound effects) and lighting were much better this year - the UV scene was very effective. Well done to the Choreographers - dealing with so many children must be a nightmare - I dread to think what it was like back stage, the costumes were good, especially Nurse Millie's costume and hat for the finale.
Now to the cast - there is nothing like a Dame (Ross Crowe) who has played the part for over 20 years - Well Done!!! Robin (Keeley Camilleri) and Lady Marian (Briony Colton) played their parts with confidence and sang very well together. The Sheriff of Nottingham (Callum Fellows) was excellent and was boo'd by the audience in all the right places. The Merry Men and a Merry Woman (Kerry Radcliffe) played their characters with great aplomb. Guy of Gisburne (John Lake) is certainly an asset as far as ad-libbing and his rapport with the audience. Prince John played by Robin Moorby did really well. The three witches (Kathy Allan, Kerry Moorby and Lucy Simpson) kept in character all the time and worked well together. Last but by no means least, Black Beauty - a lady horse (Rebekah Worrall & Laura McCall) and Neddy - a stallion (Collette Bellamy and Zoi Colton) - their tap dancing routines were excellent. The ensemble and dancers worked hard to complete a great panto atmosphere.
Well done to everyone - the audience certainly enjoyed it.
