~~This show was created by Bob Carlton and is based very loosely on the 1956 film Forbidden Plant which was a sci-fi version of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Directed by Gwen Moulster assisted by David Putley there is a very good cast and everyone has worked very hard, there is some nice Choreography by Phil Cheesman, and Steven Moulster and Chris Talbot are in charge of the orchestra.
The set was great and is the flight deck of the spaceship, under the excellent leadership of Antony Morrison (Captain Tempest). The other team members Dean Attard (Bosun), Viki Sarker (Navigation Officer), and George Tate (Cookie) all have great parts. Lisa Phillips (Science Officer) has a secret that we find out later.  There are also the damage control crew and some celebrity passengers spending the journey with the barman in the bar.
After receiving a message they go to the aid of Christopher Wortley (Dr. Prospero) and his daughter Wendy Burgess (Miranda) and their roller skating robot Wayne Reddin (Ariel).
String the story together is Kim Jesney (Newsreader) with her on film on the screen.
The great bit about this show is the music with lots of well known 50’s & 60’s songs that all the cast sing very well and I really liked Cookie’s number. It turns out that Gloria the science officer is the estranged wife of Dr Prospero, and we really liked the monster that surrounds the ship at the end of act one.
The set was very good and the society have made the set, and costumes, all the front of house staff where dressed as part of the crew and signs around the hall kept to the star ship theme, everything has been thought out very well.
A very fun show. Well done to all concerned.
