A long time ago in a galaxy far far away ......... greeted by an extremely efficient and suitably clad front of house team, we had obviously entered another galactic sci-fi dimension even before entering the auditorium and witnessing a very impressive set constructed by friends of PODS.

Forbidden Planet is a great ensemble piece which utilises the company to the full and this production under the direction of Vic Atkins did exactly that. The cast captained by the excellent Simon Riordan was first class, choreography was suitably stylised and the music appropriately upbeat. The evening I went there were some technical issues which meant the dialogue was very muffled. That being said, when Doctor Prospero arrived cleverly disguised as Billy Connelly bearing an uncanny resemblance to Nick Pratt the audience were in raptures.

Some "stellar" performances from Luisa Davey (Miranda) , Neil Clevett (Cookie), Debbie Apollonio (Gloria) and that man again, Vic Atkins as Ariel the soft  hearted Robot ensured this production was destined for the stars.

The show ended with the entire audience on their feet dancing and singing "Jonny Be good", excellent pre-show, committed ensemble and clever use of set. Well done all, live long and Prospero.....

Looking  forward to Chorus Of Disapproval in October and sleeping Beauty in December.
