Blackwood Musical Theatre Society gave this show energy, style and fun creating a space ship in the theatre with onboard warm welcomes for all their full house passengers going in to space!

They blew us all away with their singing and acting and dancing skills were well within the range of all members.

The title of this unusual yet fabulous musical can be puzzling science fiction othe range of all members  Doctor Who? Yet although quirky with William Shakespeare’s The Tempest as the basis, the famous 1960’s songs carry it along throughout with fabulous pace and it is a very challenging and musically infectious show. This society coped well with the language, with enough emphasis where it mattered, delivering with skill those famous lines! Who can not be moved by the lyrics of these iconic numbers sung so well by this company highlighted with fantastic choreography performed brilliantly by the dancers from the Janet Stephens Theatre Dance and the cast of BMTS.

Young Girl was given star treatment by Lee Jones as Captain Tempest the man with a fabulous voice and great interaction with Cookie, Joel Collins both have great stage presence and well done Bosun Janine Tyler. Flight Attendant Ruth Thomas commanded the stage and Rachel Brown as Miranda both played very good parts.

The numbers kept coming, Good Vibrations, Great Balls of Fire Only the Lonely, Robot Man and here we had a fabulous Ariel the Robot well played by Clare Rooke delivering the number Robot Man with superb vocals!! Mad scientist Doctor Prospero was played brilliantly by Huw Thomas and Gloria really rocked when show stopper Angharad Jones  as Navigation Officer Gloria gave us this fantastic number, to name a few of the twenty songs woven in to the action  Set by Rob Thorne Jnr and all technical effects were superb and worked very well on different levels with effective graphics and effective costumes and precision backstage.

A really great show, congratulations to all the Production Team Co Producers Huw Thomas/Peter Williams and outstanding Musical Director Ashleigh Powell the rich feel good factor applause from the appreciative audience said it all.
