Raising the Roof was a colourful collection of songs from shows, both old and new, presented by Pickering Musical Society Youth Section. An enthusiastic troupe of nearly 30 young people presented the numbers with wholehearted commitment. The introduction of simple yet effective choreography to some numbers further lifted the energy of the production, the “Bad Guys” particularly shone for me and a unique interpretation of Bohemian Rhapsody rounded off the evening. It was a little disappointing that some performers were lost due to lack of attention to detail with the lighting, please take care to ensure everyone is lit. It is, however, great to find such a thriving youth section, I am sure there will be lots more to come from this group and I look forward to watching their progression with the Society as a whole.
