I am first to admit I am not a “pantomime” person, but I have to say this Society won me round There was a mixture of new songs and familiar songs that made you want to sing along.
We had good and bad fairies (Ruth Barton and Bethan Ballam) a great comedy duo in ( Matt McCabe and Pete Routley) who provided the slap stick element ( well done both of you) an Ogre (Chris Powell) a relatively small part but very well played. The Dame ( an essential of panto’s) was played brilliantly by Bryn Middleton, he had us all giggling every time he came on. King Wally ( Dave Green) was a good foil for the dame, a very good pairing. Another good pairing was that of the Princess and Jack, lovely duets from them. Puss and Bobby (Sarah Purnell and Angela Everett) got the audience participation going, and even I was shouting out. There were a lot of children in the audience who must have been hoarse when they got home. The chorus and other smaller parts were well cast and sang and moved well.
The music was good, and considering the band position, was not overpowering.
The costumes were gorgeous especially the blue and white numbers
As I have said before I am always amazed what this company can do in the limited space available backstage and once again they pulled it off.
Thanks again for the invitation, and I look forward to seeing you again.
