WOW! Where do I begin? Congratulations to Claire Harriott on her first show at the Lyceum as Director/Choreographer - and as one of the Society's patrons wrote on Facebook "she took the show by the scruff of the neck" and got every ounce of fun out of it. Well done to David Burgess and his nine musicians - they produced a great sound and made the super musical numbers come alive. Paul Minott (Stage Manager), his Deputy, Assistants and Stage Crew certainly had their work cut out - I don't think any other show has a rotating camper van on stage and three Divas (Nicola Cutts, Jessica Widdowson and Jill Beckett) on wires, coming down from the rafters!!!! Congratulations to Christine Minott and her Wardrobe Team and Dressers - I can imagine what it must have been like backstage/wings - the costumes were fab-u-lous. To Pat Bunting and her Make Up team, Nick Challenger (Wigs) - absolutely excellent - I couldn't recognise the drag ensemble - that's what I call pure theatre.

Now to the cast - Bernadette (Mark Harris), Tick/Mitzi (Damien Ross) and Adam/Felicia (Ben Loy) were excellent with Mark and Ben having perfected their Australian accents - Damien is an Aussie - they made a dynamic trio singing their musical numbers with gusto and feeling as appropriate. Thomas Slater playing Benji (on the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings) acted and sang his part really well.  I am sure Dylan Ross playing Benji  opposite his Dad (on the Tuesday, Thursday  and Saturday Matinee) did just as well. James Bell as the young Bernadette was excellent and perfectly cast. The harmonies from the singing Divas were excellent. Maria Sims as the Chinese mail order bride, although only a small part certainly made her presence felt and Steve Pashley (Bob) played his part as a lovely sweet guy that most girls and drag queens need in their lives.  The ensemble worked very hard and the dance numbers were excellent.

A production that will be remembered for a very long time. Well done to everyone concerned.
