Noel Coward's light hearted comedy has eveything for a great night's entertainment. The set is just right and I liked the art deco look, which was perfect for the play. Sound and lighting are also good. The costumes are just right. Director Jenny Green has paid a lot of attention to detail, and has an excellent cast in this production.
The story mainly focuses around Garry Essendine, who is an actor who belives he can't do anything wrong and has numerous affairs. He is just about to go on a tour to Africa when the full extent of his misdemeanours come crashing down around him. Richard Barnett is great in the role, he is never really off the stage and it’s a demanding role. Richard has great facial expressions and good comic timing. You really believe in him and his great characterisation.
Debbie Murray plays his firm but supportive secretary Monica. Di Buck is his ex-wife Liz, and Stevie Parker plays Joanna the wife of his producer. All three ladies are very strong in their roles and their characters come across, they all work well with each other and Richard.
I liked Jack Barnett as the hard working steward Fred, and Vic Milne was just right as the crazy playwright Roland Maule, who wants Garry to do his play and keeps pestering him to read it. He has some very funny moments and creates lots of laughs.
There are some other great cameo roles, and everyone involved plays their part very well. This is an excellent production. Well done to all.
