Crowthorne Amateur Theatrical Society (CATS) outdoor production of Pinocchio was an ambitious and heart-warming triumph, delightfully delivered despite typically unpredictable British weather — with sunshine, showers and the odd soaking downpour. The cast and crew battled on valiantly, bringing colour, laughter and community spirit to the field and proving that local theatre is alive and thriving in Crowthorne.

Written by Pumpkin Pantos, the script was packed full of clever wordplay, fresh gags, and playful panto humour that kept the audience engaged from start to finish. The performance opened with an energetic voiceover and "Wake Up Boo", setting a high-energy tone — albeit slightly hindered by speaker feedback and mixing issues.

The community spirit was palpable throughout, and the cast, particularly the younger performers, brought undeniable charm to the show.

While there were occasional sound issues, such as missed microphone cues and moments of low projection, these did little to dampen the joy and enthusiasm radiating from the stage. Creative choices such as the growing nose gag, imaginative sea scene, and charmingly chaotic fish-flinging added flair and humour to a visually vivid production.
