There was a good audience gathered at the Welfare Hall for this production of Peter Pan. This added greatly to the ambience of the pantomime and the company were able to responded and react to some great enthusiasm.
The set was well designed and clever as there was no means of ‘flying’. The lighting and costumes were great and added to a good performance. The ensemble was full of enthusiasm and enjoyed every minute of being on stage. There were focused and characterised their individual roles well.
There were some lovely performances from the principals and it is unfortunate that I have a word limit and cannot comment on all. I must, however, mention Catrin Mari Thomas who led the cast well as a great Peter and Becci Thomas gave a good performance of Wendy with lovely vocals. The singing was excellent overall and mention must go to Jessica McNeil as Tinkerbell, Heather Rees as Tiger Lily and Karys Turner who all sang beautifully.
Special mention must go to Edwina Davies with an excellent performance as Cookie and her double act with Russell Rees as Smee was hilarious! Also, I must say that never have I seen such clever casting and great characterisation in the part of Captain Hook. William Walters in the role was inspired and brought the house down on more than one occasion, made all the funnier by the constant carrying around of the Captain by Rupert.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and I commend the whole company. I look forward to the next production.
