Peter Pan, presented by First Act over two evenings, with slightly different casts, which gives all members a chance to perform.
The First Act Theatre Group are ably assisted by professional and semi-professional performers both on and off stage.
The audience of 210 were suitably enthusiastic and gave the whole performance an added edge.
The programme was designed to incorporate both shows and was informative without being overly wordy. Unfortunately, it did not include any mention of NODA.
Largely a musical, the backing was provided by tapes in the orchestra pit along with any prompts required. The scenery consisted entirely of backdrops and side curtains and created the necessary effect. Any loose scenery would have seriously impeded the large cast in their comings and goings.
The various groups namely, the Darling family, the Lost Boys, the pirates and the mermaids were all easily identifiable. Most of the players had head microphones, as did the storytellers at the side of the stage ,which made it quite easy to follow.
Both Storytellers, namely, Aaron Danvers Jukes and Sarah Louise McEvoy were extremely competent and whilst it is almost impossible to single out any one player, Carl Harvey, who played Nana (the dog) and the Ticking Crocodile, really related to the audience. His cheeky performance was a joy to watch.
As always, a thoroughly enjoyable evening, with the enthusiasm of the players and the support production team very much in evidence.
