The themes of this Thornton Wilder classic are as relevant now as they were on its premiere. It has to be said however that the production was successful in spite of some unnecessarily updated elements. Sensitive direction and acting ensured that the audience was just as moved in 2024 as in 1938 and continue to be, even if productions (particularly in the UK) are perhaps not so frequent these days notwithstanding periodic professional revivals.
