What  a rip-roaring, energetic show this was, with a large cast of enthusiastic youngsters taking to the stage and making it their own.  This is not an easy show to present, with a complex plot, a challenging script and rock-style music, but the lively and dedicated cast handled it amazingly well and gave us a professional, well-drilled and thoroughly enjoyable performance.  This was a team effort and every youngster on stage poured their talent into it, whether in singing, dancing or dialogue.

Picking out individuals from such a strong team of leading players, each bringing their characters to life, is difficult,  but I must mention Joshua Gregory as Joe Casey who was hardly ever off stage even to change and who performed his challenging dual role with great energy and skill.   Ben Tooth as Dad will be sadly missed by the company, with his superb singing voice and stage presence. Teleri Hughes gave a sensitive and intelligent performance, and Rachel Land brought a mature element to the role of Joe’s Mum.

The dancing was superb with demanding routines but, with so many highly skilled dancers, they were performed with style, accuracy and great enthusiasm.  The singing was robust and added enormously to the period feel of the piece.  The big company numbers were terrific and  enthusiastic finale was sensational.

The show was well thought out and cleverly staged.  An accomplished production – congratulations to the directors and all involved.  Well done!
