One Man, Two Guvnors, written by Richard Bean, is an English adaptation of “A Servant of Two Masters”, a 1746 play by Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni.
Dan Collier-Roberts as Francis Henshall was very well cast, not only did he have to master a complex script, he had to cope with interactions with the audience and their unpredictable consequences. He handled it all with ease and consistently gave a good characterisation, making Francis a very likeable character. Strong performance and good clear diction.
Gemma Durham as Roscoe/Rachel Crabbe did well in this role and was believable as the (non) identical twin, covering up some hidden secrets. Good performance, strong stage presence.
Mike Gelder as Stanley Stubbers, the public-school upper class twit used his physique well to reinforce his role as the other Guvnor. Good diction and a strong performance.
Phil Bond as Charlie Clench was very well cast in the role, very watchable and likeable. His accent was very strong, and he told the story very well. showcased a real leading man, strong performance.
Francesca Rees as Pauline Clench, the dumb blonde, nicely played without going over the top. I enjoyed the character traits that Frencesca brought, and she was very believable. Good stage presence, good diction, good performance.
Matthew Atkins as Alan Dangle the would-be- actor played with a nice touch. Good performance, good tone to his voice and good diction.
Laura Pike as Dolly delivered a good sensuous performance as a feisty female who knows exactly what she wants from a man. Good facial expression. Good performance.
The main cast was supported by some good performances from Stephen Lane [Harry Dangle], Kevin Smith [Lloyd], Matthew Passmore [Alfie] and Bev Jones [Gwen].
The scenery was well planned and decorated in the period. The costumes were good, well placed in the period and the accompanying music matched the production.
Congratulation to all involved.
