Pump House Theatre Company presented the Richard Bean play One Man Two Guvnors for their Spring production. Written as a Carry-on, Commedia dell'arte, pantomime style play to highlight the exquisite slapstick comedy talents of James Corden, this could be beyond the capabilities of some amateur companies but PHTC rose to the challenge admirably finding a great talented energetic cast. This experienced team were led by the classic 'cheeky-chappie' brilliantly taking on the lead role. Keeping to the established tradition of this play a live Skiffle Band was in attendance to entertain the audience during scene changes and more.  The audience was swept along in the mayhem of small-time gangsters' dodgy dealings, murder cover-ups, bribery and corruption. We laugh as elderly inept servants suffer cartoon-style violence and whilst ditsy dolls, over-the-top toffs and small-time crooks come together romantically. It is strange how this combination provides such real feel-good entertainment!
