How good it was to be back in Saundersfoot to witness their latest annual pantomime. As usual the set was well designed and painted by Keith Williams and his willing band of helpers, costumes were very colourful and well thought out, all provided by the in house costume store under the direction of Pat Williams and her loyal and most helpful associates.
The daughter of Cinderella is about to marry the son of Snow White, banishing evil from pantoland for ever, Naturally the baddies are not taking this lying down. Evelyn the wicked witch spirits Princess Lottie and her two brainless helpers onto the edge of pantoland hoping that Prince Marvellous will despair and abandon all plans to marry her. But the Prince embarks on a rescue mission , but what lies in store?.
Cinderella and Snow White played by stalwarts of the society Alison Butler and Andrea Thomas provided us with a suitable love hate relationship.
The two brainless Associates Nick and Nack were again played with great humour and timing by Gareth Morris and Steve Butler. The wicked Evelyn was played by newcomer to the society Jessica Wheeler, a very convincing and evil portrayal of the "baddie" Once again, Roger Leese as Dame Gertie the cook added great humour with his larger than life performance, great costumes and very coloutrful Dr. M`s boots.
Prince Marvellous, and Princess Lottie were played byTessa Rees and James Rees, both gave very convincing performances. Other roles were played by Iris Morris as Evelyn` assistant, Teifion Powell as Cinderellas`s Prince. and Sophia Karpaty as Snow White`s Prince.
All of the Panto characters made appearances , including Captain Hook (Connor Rees), THe Mad Hatter (Bethan Griffiths), The March Hare (Marianne Osborne) Alice (Harriet Dooner), Little Red Riding Hood (Holly Thomas) The Big Bad Wolf (Richard Young), Tweedledum and Tweedledee (Catrin Miles and Victoria Walters).
The younger members of the company made up the chorous in the additional roles as Dwarves and Pirates,
The panto moved along niceley with all the funny jokes, songs and happiness one associates with this form of entertainment.
I was particularly impressed with the video of the characters performing in the various local buildings and areas of Saundersfoot, well done to the Director for coming up with this very novel idea.
The Band under the direction of Clive Raymond ensured that the musical numbers were moved along at the right tempo.
Congratulations to all involved with this production, both on stage and behind and in front of hose.
The audience I know all went home happy and glad that that they had supported you once again.
Thanks for the invitation and hospitality. It was good to meet up with so many of you. .
