Oliver is always a good friend to all amateur societies as without fail it always attracts large enthusiastic audiences and this production was no exception. The casting in all the principal roles was strong. Neil Knipe (Fagin) gave us a well studied performance working well with Fagin's gang. Molly Holmes (Nancy) sang her numbers well but a little more attack in her acting would have been beneficial. William James Cummins (Oliver) and Charlie Matthews (The Artful Dodger) gave most impressive performances both singing and dancing and linking up well with Fagin and his gang who were superbly trained both in singing and movement. Matthew Finnemore (Bill Sikes) was suitably nasty as the role requires a most confident portrayal even without a dog. Rob Atkinson (Mr.Bumble) has so many great roles in his locker that he specialises in, it is hard to know which he plays best but this performance along with Andrea Page (Widow Corney) who was also great, will take some beating their 'I Shall Scream' duet was for me the outstanding feature of the show. Great costumes, excellent sound and lighting made for a most enjoyable evening.
