ROS began their 90th Anniversary celebrations with a fine redesign of the standard set allowing instantaneous scene transitions, and the company kept things moving, singing well, acting in character and achieving the right rustic atmosphere, with The Farmer and the Cowman and the auction scene done with great spirit and particularly effective. Comedy was well performed all through and some first night vocal, orchestral and ballet issues didn’t mar the overall enjoyment of the enthusiastic audience.
