Just as the title says, what a night!. A celebration of music by royal command, this was a very special evening from Halifax Light Opera Society to commemorate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Lots of hard work and planning went into this production, with an excellent selection of varied music both old and new, which gave all the company members an opportunity to shine and show what they could do. They wore black costumes almost throughout, changing their accessories from red to white then green, to suit the musical numbers they were performing. The Compere Peter McDonnell held the show together with lots of funny stories including a 'Letter' from the 'Queen' which had the audience falling about with laughter. There was excellent harmony singing from the chorus, good comedy from 'The Upper Ludden Foot Mudgurglers' and a great selection of Beatles numbers in the first Act. The choreography was simple but quite effective for the numbers performed. and the lighting well planned. Congratulations to the whole company both on and off stage.
