This was a home grown play written by two talented writers who are also well-known actors on the local amateur stage. It is about online dating and it was refreshing to see a new angle on the old old story of “boy meets girl”

The four main characters were well defined as individuals, but blended well as a group of close friends. Their challenge was to find that perfect partner,(Emma, having already done so; or had she?) and the story unfolded to some hilarious encounters that kept the audience captivated, Diana McKay as Laura, Juliet Squire as Izzy, Beverley Hammett as Emma and Jane Ledwood as Di gave great performances. Truly wonderful!

Gavin Haines was in his element playing several roles as Steve the dancer, the Phone man, Boat man, Russell the gourmand, Mark and the Champagne waiter. Such different characters that had us in stitches! Steve Knight who played Bill the Nerd! Martin the football dad, the Waltz man and Peter, again did a great job. Cathie Rigby played Di’s Mum and the waitress, with some wonderful facial expressions.

All did so well in their well written characters, it was obvious that they had great fun performing this comedy play. The seamless transition of the Karaoke scene, from being interval entertainment to an integral part of the play was clever.

I would mention that the frequent change of scenes began to be slightly irritating. It would have been best to have some of the sets already in place, in other words, to have used the whole of the stage, with the characters moving from one to another. Saying that, I understand that the Village Hall stage is a little small but with only six characters this could easily have been achievable.

This comedy play needs to be taken further in my view. It has some wonderful lines and funny characters that need to be appreciated with bigger audiences, so well done to all concerned and especially to Gillian and Julie, my heartiest congratulations. A superb night of wonderful entertainment.
