This Murder Mystery, as usual kept us all guessing right until the last minute. The piece which consisted of 10 scenes took place over four days, at four different locations which were cleverly depicted by signs on stage with minimal props. Guiding us through the Mystery was DetectiveChief Inspector Beth Cleveleys played by Julie Flanagan.
The six characters in the cast were all experienced players, including our Fortune Teller Mystic Myrtle, confidently played by Margaret Norwood, who gave us a faultless performance in an absolutely stunning bejewelled costume. Geoff Skelhorn was convincing Lionel Dent, insurance salesman together with his wife, Laura Dent played by Sue Rogers. Keith Wood, was believable in his portrayal of the ‘slob’ Hubert Leniewski, Myrtle’s ne’er do well husband. Eileen Burtonwood
perfectly cast as Joyce Lawson, Laura’s younger sister, completed the cast.
As with previous Murder Mystery productions it is difficult not to give too much away, but the teams were allowed to ask one question to the cast and then deliberate over refreshments as to ‘Who Done It’. As usual, unfortunately I wasn’t on the winning team. Nevertheless, excellent delivery from all on stage, with the exception of just one or two prompts which culminated in an enjoyable evening’s entertainment, appreciated by all who attended.
Thank you once again Civic Hall Amateur Players for your hospitality, and an evening of fun and mystery.
