My Fair Lady is one of the most likeable and enjoyable shows that societies can chose to perform with so many wonderful roles for the principals to play. Ian Fryer (Professor Henry Higgins) gave us a very confident and well studied performance as the slightly eccentric professor reprising the role he played for this society back in 2002. Jane Hubert (Eliza Doolittle) also reprising the role she played in 2002 showed that she is still one of the best performers in the area with her fine voice and acting skills complimenting Higgins so well as he changes her from a dirty scruffy flower girl into a very elegant society lady. Jonathan Cannon (Colonel Pickering) completed the trio of principals reprising their roles they played in 2002. He played the part as the very stiff upright ex Indian Army Colonel in fine style. David Hookham (Alfred P. Doolittle) a common dustman playing a role he really relishes in his usual most entertaining style a most enjoyable performance. Christine Castle (Mrs. Higgins) this was a superb performance by Christine very elegant and stylish with some lovely 'putdowns' for Higgins. Surely this role was written with Christine in mind! The remaining small roles were all confidently played. The orchestra was good but a little intrusive for some of Higgins and Eliza's numbers. The costumes were good but I much prefer the Black/White/Grey outfits for the Ascot scenes. The staging was well organised but I felt the design of the sets for Ascot and the Study scenes could have been more appropriate. The show was well choreographed especially in the 'Get Me To The Church On Time' number.
