For this years’ spring concert, the singers moved away their tradition of presenting a concert version of a musical or operetta to a selection of music, from a variety of popular musicals together with several choral numbers. The majority of which had been performed by the singers in recent years under their previous Musical director.Although it was noticeable that there were one or two minor hic-ups along the way there was a nice choice of musical numbers, the singers sparkled and sang with great enthusiasm. The evening proved to be very enjoyable and very entertaining. We were served a selection from Salad Days, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables, and I particularly enjoyed the two songs in praise which ended the first half “How Can I Keep From Singing“ and The Music’s Always There With You” both arranged by Musical director Peter Coole. Just a little point and suggestion to note, there were several occasions where the soloist was trying to sing without the book, got carried away (we've all been there), lost the words and as a look of horror came over their face, tried to quickly to find their place in the book. It doesn't look good when this happens, if you are not sure of the words, stick with the book.
