This is very much a female version of John Godber's 'Up and Under' but content wise it doesn't quite come up to the original
Maggie is desperately trying to pull together her rugby team with verylittle support from the club and they are training with very makeshift equipment. Morale is low and she is on the point of calling it a day when they decide to enter the seven a side competition with surprising results..
The six girls worked hard in their roles and brought a good deal of humour to the production. They had entered into their different characters with enthusiasm and you could feel the team bonding as success came their way. Each of them seemed to be using rugby as a means of eascape and it was important for them to carry on.
The rugy training kit and team strip were ideal and the girls certainly scrubbed up well for their night out on the town.
The play was ideally suited to the studio surroundings and needed tne minimum of set and props. The ones that they did need were excellent, especially the very impressive scrum machine.
Well done to the team as I know that some of them were very new to this type of entertainment and it was not an easy play to cut your teeth on. They had been well directed and certainly seemed to enjoy themselves.
