This production has been performed at many different outdoor venues across Somerset. We attended the Museum of Taunton courtyard, which was set up with very effective scenery and lighting. We were lucky with the weather, withrain arriving in the interval and a small part of the second act. The audience stuck fast to their seats and enjoyed the performance.

The story is the tale of Benedick and Beatrice who are tricked into confessing their love for each other. Meanwhile Claudio and Hero are to be married but a malicious scheme threatens their big day. Claudio is tricked into rejecting Hero, under the belief that she was unfaithful to him. The story unfolds and the truth is revealed and the play ends well for the two couples.

There was a large cast of 18 members who played their parts well and carried us through as the events unfolded. Particular mention must go to Leonat, Benedick and Beatrice. These actors had extremely strong and convincing performances. Some great facial expressions really enhanced their characters and drewusinto admire their characters.

I have been lucky enough to see a few of Taunton Thespians productions. Theyare always well produced, directed with great scenery and costumes. This wasno exception. The venue was used effectually with actors utilising doors to the museum building and the scenery.

Another great performance from this talented bunch. An enjoyable evening despite the rain. Thank you for inviting me.
