To take eleven musical films and put them into one show would seem like a nightmare for most people but not Dee Bennie-Marshall, she had a knack of knowing just what the audiences want and gives it to them.
Movies 3 is the latest of Dee’s productions, based on feature films, which she has not only written but also directed and choreographed, this one features such well known films as Sister Act, Dreamgirls, Pirates of the Caribbean, Happy Feet and many more including a favourite of mine, Madagascar in which King Julian was portrayed by Marcus Bagley-Hodkin, he was fantastic and I would challenge anyone in the audience who did not have a smile on their face when he and the rest of the cast were performing “I like to Move It”.
The whole show was held together by Emily Huddleston who portrayed Meryl Streep, as the show’s host, she was able to deliver all her lines with likeable emotion and professionalism which we have come to expect from both this young lady and all the cast of RTSA.
Another highlight of the show was a scene from Mrs. Doubtfire where Mauric Widdop playing the lead character and a group of young men performed “Dude looks like a Lady” during which he was transformed into the well know character in a hilarious performance.
It would be impossible to mention every film and indeed every character in this show but what I can say is that every one of them deserves an Oscar for their outstanding performances.
