Mother Goose is one of the lesser seen pantomimes, nevertheless it was a brave effort from the whole cast, back stage crew and front of house team, which culminated in a very entertaining production, cheering a very cold day.

The Prologue preceded an energetic opening by the Company and Ruth Purton in the title role of Mother Goose did not hold back in establishing her authority from her first entrance. Sven, the Baron’s nephew was partnered by Freya Goose, and Katrina Purton and Zoe Thompson worked well in these two roles respectively. A great pairing from Harriet Thompson and Ellie-May Cowell as Heidi Goose and Helga Goose, beautifully dressed as they went about their business.

Gareth O’Reilly gave us a believable performance as the conniving Baron Rumpensmakka supported by Olwen Jones as Gonk and Daniel Jones as Bonk. Rachel Jones had full control as the evil Smorg the Baddie from the Bog. Her gang of little Trolls were just delightful and gained many ‘Ahs’ from the supporting audience. Fairy Aurora, Gabi Purton and Fairy Elsa played by Alisha Rogerson took their roles with elegance and fully justified their selection. Excellent singing from the Chorus of Villagers, Snowmen and Geese – well done!

Scenery was basic but adequate, with swift scene changes and no pauses. The addition of colourful costumes added to the success of the production, and the piece received appreciation from a supportive audience. Another successful pantomime production from Amlwch Showstoppers who have a great following on the Isle of Anglesey and further afield. It was again a real pleasure to present NODA Long Service Awards both Adult and Youth awards to members of the Company.

Thank you once again for your invitation.
