United Players always welcomes me with a smile, and their excited young and young at heart audience members to the Walderslade Church Hall, all eager to meet the cast, be dazzled by the lights, costumes, set design and join in with the pantomime fun.

Director Becky Wornast, along with Poppy Berry as Choreographer and Hannah Spellman Musical Director, gave us a jolly Mother Goose with great dance routines by Poppy and great choice on music by Hannah, and your cast did it justice.

This is the fourth Mother Goose I have seen this year so far. As the story of Mother Goose was told, we the audience were not disappointed. There were plenty of opportunities to be dazzled, to laugh, shout out loud, boo, sing, dance and join in with the obligatory ‘‘Oh no it isn’t!’ along with obligatory custard pies. This production of Mother Goose had everything you expected from United players.

Congratulations to the cast, crew and everyone involved behind the scenes to create this piece of pantomime magic. As you entertained the audience, you cleverly embraced us and transported us to Gooseland. Everyone was having fun and the joy was heard by people of all ages laughing and participating together. With a static set this Mother Goose rolled along nicely with slick sound, effective, lighting and colorful costumes. With twenty or so in the cast its difficult for me to mention all of you, as you all excelled in your parts. From the two Dames to the Angel (clever that) and the ensemble - well done to all of you. Mother Goose, cleverly penned by Rebekah Jewell and Daniel Jewell, giving us a funny and topical script. In fact, the United Players are legendary in their own right as this production of Mother Goose celebrated their 41st Panto Anniversary. Congratulations for keeping this peculiarly British form of theatrical entertainment alive, and keep up the great work for many more years to come.
