This Pantomime was tackled with great enthusiasm in true Dewsbury fashion, complete with excellent costumes, scenery and good lighting. A story with a moral to it, Mother Goose was about to be turned out of her little cottage for non-payment of rent. Then along comes the good Fairy who sends her "Priscilla" the goose who lays golden eggs. So then along comes the wicked Demon who offers to make her young and beautiful if she trades in Priscilla for a visit to the magic pool. Of course in the end she realises her mistake and reverts to her old self in exchange for the return of Priscilla.
Mother Goose (James Creegan) with his fantastic jokes about Bra's made a brilliant Dame (I never knew there were some many different varieties) and each entrance had another colourful costume change. Everyone in the audience loved Priscilla the Goose, (Pete Forsyth) nodding happily or lowering his head to show he was sad in all the right places. A very pretty Fairy Friendship, (Lauren Bullers) with good diction was a delightful contrast the the wicked Demon Discontent, (Jeremy Handley) also produced an excellent portrayal of his character and thoroughly enjoyed all the hisses and boo's directed at him.
There was lovey singing from Jill and Colin, with good performances from King Proper Gander and Queen Goosenay. Billy had a good rapport interacting with the children in the audience with lots of traditional pantomime business. Well done to all other supporting roles.
Lots of lively dancing fronm the three teams of dancers, this was a most enjoyable and well crafted production. Congratulations to all.
