Venue
Broadstone Memorial Hall

A joint venture from P & P Players and P & P Singers, which was as the title suggested, a cocktail of songs and sketches which provided a wonderful evening of entertainment.

The sketches were all well performed and provided lots of laugher throughout with varying themes; French without tears, The School for Wives, Mens Sana in Thingummy Doodah, Growing Old Disgracefully, Hamlet Revisited and The Anniversary, which I thought was the outstanding sketch of the evening, very moving and thought provoking.

At the end of each half, the 'Singers' took over and they sang a wonderful selection of songs. It was nice to note that with inspiration from their Musical Directors, the ranks of the singers are gradually growing in numbers once again. I thought some of harmony singing sounded amazing. They bought an end to the first half by singing a favourite of mine “Anthem” from “Chess” which I thought was outstanding the highlight of the evening.

It was very warm in the venue and doors were left open to let the air flow through. I thought whole company did well to perform to such a high standard in the extreme heat. Well done to everyone concerned.
