The spring production introduced by Colnbrook Amateur Stage Theatre (C.A.S.T.) was a variety performance entitled “Memories, a musical revue celebrating 25 years of the society.” Songs from the last quarter of a century were performed to a disappointing small but appreciative audience. As one of the hosts noted, as there have been over 20 musical shows over the years and each musical has at least 10 songs, there is no way you are going to please all the people with the selection of songs. However, I felt the balance was well defined, a good variety of old and new; solos, duets and chorus numbers.
One of the advantages of producing this type of production it provides opportunities for people who do not normally have a solo to have their moment in the spotlight. The overall standard of the soloists was very high but some of the chorus numbers lacked a little bit of precision which may have been due to a lack of rehearsal time.
