As the time passes you tend to forget how much lovely music and funny dialogue is found in this musical.
Right from the first note of the overture I knew I was in for a good night. Andrea Miskelly, M.D. and her players were just right.
Neal Elstone, Producer, had gathered together a formidable and well balanced cast, very ably led by Kevein Myers,- Bill - and Katherine Bluck - Sally. The chemistry between the two was spot on, their duets most enjoyable although I did miss the tap dancing!
The aristocratic family Maria - Catherine Clark was a formidable Duchess of Dene with Peter Williams - Sir John Tremayne - an excellent foil for her caustic. I loved his drunken scene in Act 2. Robert Evans and Claire Rooke were most suitable as Lord and Lady Battersby with Doug Lewis the elderly member of the family as Sir Jasper Tring.
An excellent performance by Angharad Jones as Lady Jacqueline Carstone with Jordan Collins as the suitably foppish The Hon. Gerald Bolingbroke. The family Solicitor - Herbert Parchester - was a lively character ---but oh dear that wig!
Costumes and scenery were first class and well done to the stage crew for some slick changes.
I was pleased to present a NODA Commendation medal to Pat Evans on her retirement as Society Accompanist. Pat had given 24 years service to the Society and thoroughly deserved this award.
Thank you Blackwood for your usual warm welcome to Connie and myself
