This outstanding Toppers School of Dance and Drama gave an excellent fun filled production at The Beaufort Theatre of the award winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical Jr, Music and Lyrics by Tim Minchin adapted for the stage by Dennis Kelly.

A perfect youth musical for a large company with many named parts, and plenty of scope for chorus/ensemble, it premiered in Stratford and then opened in the West End at the Cambridge Theatre to rave reviews in 2011 for seven years, and also was very successful on Broadway.

A rousing opening from all the school children gave a brilliant start showing what was to come!

Every one of the 23 scenes full of energy and enthusiasm, with Ava Gauci as a fantastic Matilda giving the most fabulous performance of her life, perfect diction, interacting with all on stage and a great voice!

This musical shows that good comes out of evil, evil in the shape of vicious teacher, Miss Trunchbull played so well by Regan Llewellyn and her horrific Chokey punishment cupboard, and good, Miss Honey also very well played by Ebony Gould. All the cast worked so hard and smashed their parts obviously loving being part of this lively and exciting show, staged so well.

Commendation and congratulations, to the dedicated Production team including all those involved in staging this production. Brilliant team work was evident to make this show happen. Their Production team, Director Olivia Bird, assisted by Millie Price and Hannah Powell all have over ten years loyal service with Toppers and it is fantastic that they are honoured with taking Toppers School of Dance & Drama forward to their brilliant future!
