This is such a feel-good musical where good wins over evil and Miss Trunchbull meets her match in courageous and clever Matilda and her fellow classmates. This is an extremely talented group and they had been well cast. There were no weak links in either the principal or minor roles and the young girl playing Matilda gave a standout performance.
The directors clearly worked exceptionally well together and had given the children believable three-dimensional characters. They had worked on projection, expression, and delivery, resulting in confident all-round performances. The pace and energy achieved was superb. Everyone had been well rehearsed and the cast were perfectly polished in their execution of all musical numbers. The musical director had worked hard with principals and chorus to ensure they were confident with entrances, lyrics and dynamics and the singing was first class. The choreography had been well developed and the choreographer had played to the strengths of her cast devising movement which showcased their talents superbly.
The costumes, properties and set all enhanced the action and there was very good use made of the school desks on set. This was a slick high-octane production and one of which you should all be very proud.
